I was interviewed for a part time position with a contractor for the IRS and was told I was a "strong candidate". Then the guy said, we do a background check and a credit check, he said while bad credit is a hiring factor, "if you have a discharged bankruptcy, that is ok." I told him oh... I am in the middle of a Chapter 13 repayment. He said he is not sure how that will affect my hiring, and that decision is not up to him, but he thanked me for informing him up front. He said that because my other skills and experience were so strong for this position, he will advance my application to the next hiring level, and they handle it on a case by case basis at the next level of application review.
Training doesn't start til September, and the position doesn't even start til next year, so ... I guess will just wait and see.
